A couple tried IVF 6 times, after 5 years of marriage, it didn't work.
After the 6th procedure, they gave up and resigned themselves to fate only for her to miss her period and they found out she was pregnant. Imagine the joy.
Nobody could contain their joy.
She signed up for antenatal and they told her to come back in 13 weeks. So she did. They tested her and gave her red pills for iron, vitamin C and folic acid.
Her next appointment was for 17 weeks.
At 15 weeks, 4 days... she woke up in the middle of the night feeling like she had a period. She was very confused, was she supposed to experience period pain in pregnancy? They hadn't told her about this one, she didn't know what to do.
She decided to manage herself till Daybreak and go to hospital. One hour later, blood started coming out mixed with clots. She didn't need a soothsayer to know what had happened.
She cried and wouldn't be consoled. Even her husband cried as he told me the story. It was hard for the lady. She withdrew from all social events and functions.
As her husband spoke, I thought of all the women we had helped...
